We prefer to use autologous bone from the jaw area for bone augmentation. The removal of locally harvested autologous bone is unproblematic and gentle, and the removal defect heals reliably and quickly. The patient’s own bone is characterized by the best possible biocompatibility, heals ideally in particulate form and is superior to the widespread use of artificial materials. A combination with good biomaterials can be useful depending on the defect.
